Introduction of Self

HELLO!!
My name is Bianca. I was born in Heidelberg, Germany. While we lived in Heidelberg we were able to travel throughout Europe. I was fortunate to experience preschool in Germany where some of the students and all of the teachers were bilingual. By the first grade we were back in the states where I started school at Nicolas Valley Elementary in Temecula. In 3rd grade my parents decided to place my brother and me in private school until 6th grade. In 7th grade I went back to public school where I attended Day Middle School. I then went on to attend Chaparral High. Once I graduated I went to Mt. San Jacinto Community College for three years until I transferred to the wonderful Cal State San Marcos.

In regards to technology I would like to say I know the basics. My dad is a PC guy who teaches computer courses where some of his knowledge of computers has been instilled in me. My whole life I have been a PC person until recently my boyfriend purchased a Mac book pro for him and I to use. We fell so in love with the Mac that we are now considering a desktop. However, I have only been using the Mac for less than six months and I still feel that I have a lot to learn. Even on the first day of class I learned a few new things. In regards to my likes about computers, I like the concept of having a course where technology is a main component. I enjoy computers and believe that there are always new things that are developing in regards to technology. I feel it is a resourceful tool to have and know how to use and I am excited to learn how to incorporate technology in the classroom.

To be completely honest the first time I read the CSUSM/COE Mission statement was in this course. Therefore it was unfortunately not the reason why I applied to CSUSM. My main factor was its location since I live in Temecula. What speaks to me the most in the mission statement is the commitment to student-centered education. I believe in this and have been able to witness it. I want to instill this in myself as well.

  1. Hey Bianca, that sounds like an awesome experience being able to live in another country at such a young age. I would say you should definitely get the mac desktop. I also hadn't read the COE mission statement until it was presented in class, but it makes me more confident in my decision to obtain my credentials from CSUSM.
